Sons of Ivaldi Blacksmithing and Leather Craft Workshop
FORGE STEEL & CRAFT LEATHER
Learn the basics of blacksmithing from the Sons of Ivaldi – professional full-time blacksmiths who are taking a holiday in the moral realm to teach us these ancient skills. Put your new skills to the test crafting a piece of modern history to take home with you, such as a belt buckle, bottle opener, toasting fork or even phone stand (because even the Norse dwarves need to stay connected). All materials and PPE will be provided.
Choose from one of four projects in this Leather Craft one-hour workshop that introduces you to leatherworking. Learn the basics of leather craft, including decorative stamping, stitching and riveting. Make a coin pouch, card wallet, glasses or pencil case or a riveted axe frog to take home with you as a special memento of the Kingdom of Loxwood.
Closed-toed shoes and long trousers are a must! Long hair must be tied back. Over 16 with supervision otherwise over 18s only.
KNIGHT SCHOOL
MASTER THE SWORD
Discover the glory of battle as you learn the basics of handling a sword and buckler in combat. The skills taught in this half-hour session are authentic to the mid-1400s and yes, it is a school, so be prepared to do some work! We suggest a minimum age of 7 years old for pre-booking. We will take younger children provided they have an adult with them, but it would be best to come and see what’s involved first. There is no upper age limit, we firmly believe that adults should get a chance to play as well. It’s not just for boys either.
TABLET WEAVING
LOOM & CARDS
Try your hand at tablet weaving (One of the oldest and simplest weaving techniques) and watch as, with a few turns of the cards, a wonderful pattern appears.
