About THE Joust
Every summer in West Sussex, the Kingdom of Loxwood opens its gates for the Joust. Across three weekends, knights compete in the arena, music spills from the taverns and the Kingdom’s folk welcome you into their realm.
Spend the day cheering your champion, learning a craft or tearing into a turkey leg. Gather your fellowship for a feast, get caught up in a little magic or take a moment to watch the world go by.
The Kingdom follows its own history, so leave your expectations at the castle gates. Come as you are or dress in your finest garbs. If you choose to join the story, you might just change how 2027’s story ends.
The Loxwood Games
Under a stream of flags and banners Queen Helena invites all to revel in the merriment of her Kingdom, with festivities, challenges and chances for glory dotting the realm. Join the celebration and gather to witness the spectacle of the Joust, a chance for the citizens of the realm to rally behind their favourite champion and for the Kingdom to elect a new Knight. Though all good champions need the support of their willing fans, with your efforts throughout the Kingdom helping to turn the fortunes of your chosen hero. Which champion will win the hearts of the people and become the new Knight of the Kingdom? The Games are beginning and all is to play for.
Characters of the Kingdom
Queen Helena
Resilient, resourceful, fair and honourable. Queen Helena’s influence has grown beyond just that of a monarch but also a champion of the Kingdom’s citizens. She keeps the Kingdom’s subjects close to her heart and her yearly appearance at the Joust offers those who revere her the chance to pay their respects. Often found roaming the Royal Quarter with her loyal entourage; spot her antler crown and black and red velvet robes trailing in the meadow.
Miggs & Twiggs
The Kingdom of Loxwood’s most favoured Bards, Miggs and Twiggs have eccentricities and charisma aplenty. These two merrymen love nothing more than singing their enchanting ballads at the tavern, although they venture far and wide across the Kingdom. Their musical merriment can be heard long before you happen upon their vibrant garb and woven headdresses. Wherever you wander, these two are bound to be part of your destiny!
tallow
Deep in the woodlands, where rumours of magic predate the Kingdom, unearth the mystery of witchcraft in the realm. This mysterious being prefers the company of their cauldron to the company of the Royal Court, though they may offer guidance should you happen upon their hovel. Venture to the woodlands to find them cloaked in a guise of purple and draped in trinkets and talismans. Discover the mystical secrets that weave their way through the Kingdom.

Quests
Answer the call to adventure and discover those who call the Kingdom home, taking on a quest is the best way to become involved in the story that shapes the realm. Your problem-solving skills will be put to the test across three levels of length and difficulty: Bronze, Silver and Gold. Start at Bronze to be introduced to the world, perfect for younger adventurers, or jump straight to Gold and challenge your explorative skills, your tale is your own so traverse it however you please. Though not everything is as it may seem and out of the box thinking is required to solve the mysteries that surround the land. Will you answer the call?
Workshops
Try your hand at the many professions that make up the Kingdom or train with the Loxwood Army to learn the ways of the sword or bow. From blacksmithing, leatherworking and metal work to book binding and embroidery, you can learn a new skill and create a unique memento to take on your journey. Celebrate your own milestones with a personalised ceremony in The Orchard or charge at your friends in the Battle of Banners, there is a workshop for everyone to get involved with.

No hero should quest on an empty stomach. Wander from tavern to table and indulge in the flavours of the realm. From roasted meats to sweet treats and goblets of golden mead.

Explore the Marketplace
The jangle of coin and bartering cries are a regular occurrence in the realm, with trade and commerce fuelling the land. Roam through Loxwood’s market streets and explore the buzzing backbone to the Kingdom, treasures galore await in the Trading Quarter. Peruse the stalls and discover goods from handcrafted trinkets to woven cloaks and metal blades, there is something for everyone to discover.
Camp after dark
When the sun sets, the Kingdom does not sleep. Join your fellowship in the campsite for three nights of fireside tales, music, and moonlit mischief. With new Sunday night entertainment, luxury bell tents for 2026, and a camper’s shuttle service on Friday and Monday, the adventure doesn’t end when the gates close… it deepens beneath the stars.
